HMC Sunday School Restart

05/20/2020

Dear Church Family,

As a leadership team we continue to monitor what the state of Ohio is doing regarding reopening the state for business and try to make some of our decisions based on that. A month ago, they had decided to keep the stay at home in place till May 29th. But we are seeing that has changed and most of the businesses and eating places will be open before then, but with many cautions regarding the virus in place.

With that said, we will continue to hold our worship services in the gymnasium for the duration of the month of June. Beginning on June 7th we will restart our Sunday School @9:00 AM. The adult classes will all meet as one class in gymnasium, Youth will meet in youth room and children will be spread out in various areas of the building. If you’re a primary teacher and have a concern about teaching during this COVID-19 season, please contact the primary SS Superintendents ASAP. Our Sunday morning worship service will begin @10:00AM. We will also resume our Sunday evening services as well @6:00PM.

So, for the next couple of Sundays please be picking up your Sunday school books. They will be on a table in the back of the gymnasium.

Wednesday evening Adult class please keep last quarters Sunday School books, as we will be using them on Wednesday evenings in the month of July.

Again, if you have any questions about these decisions or any other decision we have made, feel free to talk with anyone on the leadership team.

Sincerely,

The Leadership Team at Hicksville Mennonite Church

HMC Reopening Announcement

Dear Church Family,

As a leadership team we have decided to resume worship services at the church on Sunday May 3, 2020 @ 9:30 AM. Sunday School and Sunday evening services will remain canceled and Wednesday evening services will continue to be held on Zoom. The baby dedication scheduled for this Sunday and the revival meetings scheduled to begin on May 10 have been canceled and we are working to reschedule both. The leadership team is in constant communication with each other and will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with updates as we move forward.

To assist with the safety of those attending the service, the worship gathering will be held in the gym and social distancing guidelines will be upheld as much as possible.

We recognize that some of you might have reservations about returning to church at this point. We understand the hesitation and bless you in making decisions that you feel are the best for you and your family. We will continue to livestream the service and ask that you please stay home and continue to join us through that medium if you are uncomfortable with attending the service in person.

Some of you are wondering why we are resuming our services if the governor’s suggestions have not changed. We certainly do not want to disregard his wishes, but we have now had several weeks to pray and evaluate the situation and we believe that at this time God is calling Hicksville Mennonite Church to resume gathering together. If you have any questions about this decision or any other decision we have made, feel free to talk with anyone on the leadership team.

Sincerely,

The Leadership Team at Hicksville Mennonite Church
