People run from God for many reasons. Sometimes it’s because they don’t want to do what He asks of them if they would commit themselves to him. Sometimes they don’t want to cut things out of their lives that they aren’t willing to give up. There are also people who don’t want to go where God asks them to. Jonah was someone who wasn’t willing to go where God was sending him. God told Jonah to go to Ninevah but it seems that Jonah didn’t think that the people of Ninevah deserved to hear the warning from God. Jonah 1:3 says: “But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord. “ Jonah thought he could travel far enough away that God wouldn’t find him, but we can never outrun the Presence of God. Are we sometimes like Jonah? Do we think that others are underserving to hear God’s message?
Like Jonah, Satan always has a “ship” waiting to haul us away. Do we need to sink to the bottom like Jonah before we realize we cannot escape God?
WHICH WAY ARE YOU RUNNING?
