Keep Your Eyes On Jesus

By Elder Gladwin Gingerich

Eyes On Jesus-450X300

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. Hebrews 12:1-3 (NLT2)

The world around us seems to be spinning out of control. The things that are right and good are made to seem wrong and bad. Things that are wrong are made to seem right. The coming election and some of its candidates continue to amaze us with the corruption and scandals in our nations leadership, and the list goes on. We need to be careful and not fix our eyes on such opposition from sinners, but fix our eyes on Jesus who also faced such opposition and endured through it until He had defeated the enemy and won the victory.

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 (NLT2)

“Keep your eyes on Jesus, when the tidal wave of trouble around you rolls. Keep your eyes on Jesus, He will calm the storms of life that toss your soul.”
