PRESENCE FOCUS OR PROBLEM FOCUS?

By Elder Elton Gingerich

Focus-450X300

If you are listening to the news at all these days, it’s easy to become focused on what the future may look like. There are many predictions being made of what the future may hold for us. Some of which may be accurate. If we look too long into the future, our focus can easily become a focus on the problem which then allows fear and worry to take root in our hearts.

However, if we keep our focus on God’s loving presence we can have victory over fear and worry. Psalm 46:1-3 says: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth may give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

Psalm 16:11 says: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

These verses promise us that God is an ever-present help in our trouble and that we can find joy in His presence. These promises can help us keep our eyes focused on God’s presence in our lives rather than focusing on the problems in our lives. So as we are going through these challenging times, lets remember to keep a presence focus and not a problem focus.
