The signs of the times we are living in, indicate that the return of Christ is near. I’m sure all of us know people who don’t believe. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says: “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God.” RSV
These verses tell us that people are perishing because they do not believe and they do not believe because they are blinded by satan. Satan has deceived people into believing they do not need a savior. He has blinded their minds to keep them from seeing what awaits them if they don’t accept Christ as their savior. The devil has made it his job “…to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God.” So how can they believe? How can the blindness be removed? How can they be saved? In 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 Paul says: “For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For it is God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness who has shone in our hearts to give light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” RSV. We, as Christians, need to share this light with those who are perishing, so their eyes would be opened and they would see the truth. Satan is getting bolder because he knows his time is running out. As we see more and more signs of Christ’s return, what are we doing to help prepare those around us who are perishing?
