It is believed that it was on Wednesday that Judas betrayed Jesus. Some individuals call it Spy Wednesday. This was the day that Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. This was the price of a slave in the Old Testament Exodus 21.32. Judas knew the ways of Jesus, where he went at night, where he was going to go pray. He knew Jesus would be at the Garden of Gethsemane. He acts like a friend; then later betrays Jesus with a kiss. Jesus refers to Judas as a friend in Psa. 41:9. Judas wanted to be friends with Jesus to accomplish his own agenda. Did he really know Jesus?
Mary sister of Martha anoints Jesus for burial on Wednesday as well. The anointment was very expensive. She also knows the ways of Jesus. She knows his patterns of life, what he does and where he goes. The bible referred to Mary and her siblings as friends of Jesus. She is that one that sat at the feet of Jesus and learned from him, Luke 10:38-42. She is the one that knelt at the feet of Jesus, John 11:32. She is the one that anointed the feet of Jesus, John 12:3. She knew and loved Jesus. Do you know Jesus?
Are we a Judas or are we a Mary? Mary valued Jesus and anointed His feet with expensive perfume. Judas sold Him for the price of a slave. Do our actions betray Jesus or are we spending time at the feet of Jesus? ?
To every soul there openeth
A high way and a low;
And every man decideth
Which way his soul shall go.
