“A real Christian is an odd number anyway. He feels supreme love for One whom he has never seen, talks familiarly every day to Someone he cannot see, expects to go to heaven on the virtue of Another, empties himself in order to be full, admits he is wrong so he can be declared right, goes down in order to get up, is strong when he is weakest, richest when he is poorest, and happiest when he feels worst. He dies so he can live, forsakes in order to have, gives away so he can keep, sees the invisible, hears the inaudible, and knows that which passes knowledge.” - A.W. Tozer
I love a good mystery! I find it exciting to seek out the clues and figure out the solution. From the outside, our faith looks like a great mystery. As Tozer pointed out in the quote above, Christians appear crazy to people who do not know what it is all about. So what is the secret to this great mystery of those who follow Christ? Paul talks about this mystery in Colossians and states, “And this is the secret; Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.” (Colossians 1:27, NLT).
This is indeed a great mystery that the God of the Jews would take up residence in the Gentiles. Christ lives in us! Let that sink in for a second! He lives in us!!?? This is why we live in a way that the world considers upside down and out of sorts with reality.
Does your life look like a mystery to your non-Christian friends? Do they think you are a little odd or crazy? If not, why not? Does Christ live in you?
