Who Can You Trust?

By Pastor Steve Eicher

We live in a fallen and broken world. It seems that mankind has an inability to trust each other. Websters explains trust as assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something : one in which confidence is placed.

At our leadership retreat one of the leadership couples had their little daughter along, and as I watched them carry that little girl around, I told myself that she really trusted her parents. They would pick her up from a lying position and then sling her over their shoulder. While on their shoulder; wherever they turned she had to turn. The faith of a little child. So, who can we trust like that?

I had to ask myself; would I trust my Daddy (ABBA FATHER) that much? Do I trust HIM to sling me around in this world? Sometimes we do feel like we are being tossed about. Jesus told us that we would endure troubles on this earth. Do I trust HIM enough to turn directions when HE turns directions? Jesus told us to follow him. We so often depend upon our own philosophies, ideas and take that direction. But the LORD tells us otherwise.

Proverbs 3:5-7 ESV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.

Be not wise in your own eyes;

fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
