12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Philippians 2:12–13 (ESV)
Is there anything more important than salvation? I don’t think there is. Paul here encourages the church at Philippi to continue on in obedience, even if he is not with them. He encourages them to seriously
consider their salvation, so that they should not fall short. He reminds them in verse 13 that it is ultimately through the power of God, and not of our own strength.
Brothers and sisters, think for just a moment about the power and mercy and grace and love of God! God gives us the power to will AND the power to do. So, what will you do? Will you do nothing? If you haven’t already, will you consider your salvation with fear and trembling? If you need to repent because you have turned away from God at some point in your life, remember – God has given you all that you need to be saved. ALL. What will you do? Maybe today finds you living at peace with God, and that’s great! Take a moment to thank God for all He has done in your life, and then go and tell people around you about this great and precious gift.
