You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

Peace is something that many desire, but never seem to find. Today’s passage gives us the key to not just peace, but perfect peace! One commentator likened the scenario to a city that was protected by a fort within, yet was being attacked from without.
Jesus Christ alone can bring us perfect peace in our minds amidst the battles and turmoil that rage around us every day. Why? In verse four we see it’s because God is our everlasting rock, our strength, and our source.
But, do you see what we need to do? We need to keep our minds focused on Jesus, no matter the circumstances within us or around us. We also need to trust Jesus. Satan wants to destroy our peace, and God is a God of peace. That sometimes creates an epic battle within us. Picture for a moment waves of a stormy sea crashing against a large rock. The waves of the sea are relentless at times, just like Satan’s attacks and attempts to destroy our peace. Yet the rock doesn’t move. That rock is Jesus Christ. God wants us to keep our minds (and our eyes) focused on Him, because God is Peace.
